Monkeying Around

We had time for sign in, building and jobs before we gathered for....

Spanish class.

Since we are learning words for clothing. Alicia read us a beautiful book about what clothing children wear all over the world.

Then we practiced our words.

We played a game of "Camina, Camina" (Walk, Walk).

Alicia introduced us to some new words for animals, and we got to pretend to be creatures like a tortuga (turtle) and un perro (dog) as we played the game.

Soon it was time for music class.

We lined up in the hallway while Keisha explained what we would be doing to start our class.

We worked on a song where we drum, sing and do movements at the same time!

Then Keisha taught us a new song about rainbows!

We had some more time for snack when we got back.

There was some very complex dramatic play going on with a wide variety of friends - many of whom were in constant danger!

Meanwhile, construction continued and expanded.

Then it was time to head outside.

Lots of friends were working on their monkey bar skills.

Back inside, we introduced the concepts of "fiction" and "non-fiction" books. We introduced a number of non-fiction books about famous African Americans. Carol read a book about the famous stunt pilot, Bessie Coleman.

Then, we played our daily game, "What would your name be if it started with the letter...?" Today's letter was J.

Then it was lunchtime.
