Wrecking Ball Adventure

After some morning exploration...

...we gathered for morning meeting. Friends are taking turns leading us in our breathing, coming up with their own movements to accompany deep breaths.

We made a plan for our adventure over to the old gym to see what was happening with taking it down. The Catbirds had a lot of questions, including "would they be using a wrecking ball?" We were going to find out AND the Catbirds decided that we should make our own wrecking ball and use it on a magnatile tower.

After some balancing on the boards, we headed out.

We started with a few laps around the tree, then headed to the wall.

More balancing and jumping ,then we went to see the gym.

First the Catbirds hid to surprise their teachers.

We noticed the fence and the picture of the new gym.

We discovered a mystery - a digger over by the pool.

We carefully examined the area for clues and found some.

A pile of dirt, a "mud road" and a curling pipe sticking out of the ground. We made some hypotheses about what the machine was doing, and decided to do some more investigating later.

We stopped to see if the dragon was home and to feed him some grass (the Catbirds insisted that dragons love grass).

We found another place to climb and jump.

We found rocks and picked flowers.

We discovered that the rocks and our hands could make music on the metal.

Then we climbed like critters.

We quieted ourselves to go inside.

We went to see Polly, to see if she could answer our questions, or if she knew someone who could. As we were asking, a door opened and out came Rich Nourie.

He got out some pictures and started answering questions. He told us about the new gym. Then he answered a question about the digger. He told us that the pool cleaning machines were up against the gym, and had to be moved before the building came down.

He didn't have an answer to the wrecking ball question, but he's going to find out.
