Just Spending Time Together

We started the morning playing a game the Catbirds invented last year, where everyone sets their tree cookie with their picture on it on the edge, and then they set loose some hex bugs to knock them over. Last one standing wins!

We took it easy today - spending time with each other, talking and playing.

We got to spend a good bit of time outdoors.

There were games, water play, feats of strength and some cooking.

Also, some bugs and worms.

Some boo-boo comparison.

A tugging competition went on for some time, with many contenders.

One of our last Morning Meetings.

We read a book called, Happy. It contains beautiful pastel drawings of fish on black backgrounds, all expressing some complicated feelings. The Catbirds tried to guess them, and we talked about how the artist had conveyed feelings like, "Proud" and "Astonished" and "Furious." The Catbirds have learned so much this year. It was impressive listening to the descriptions and examples they gave.

Then we drew on black paper with pastels!

And did some other things.

It was a lovely day.
