A Community of Catbirds

After Lightening McQueen, Monkey Girl and most of the other Catbirds had signed in...

...it was time for Spanish class!

After leaping out to surprise Carol upon her return, the Catbirds got very busy.

It started with one building.

and grew and grew and grew.

It grew so tall, friends needed to stand on chairs to reach the top.

Friends built gleefully.

Geometrically.

Soon, all of the Catbirds had added something.

At the same time, there were other important things going on in the classroom. Water beads were being shared, poured, counted, funneled, squirted and mixed into recipes.

Friends continued to work on their superheroes.

There was a large family, with a rock star mom, bunches of kids and pets.

The buildings began to connect and form one large city!

Moms went to work.

A superhero bestowed the Magic Key upon Raji, so that others might travel to the Magic Forest.

The city grew crowded. We ate snack and continued to build. Three times we set the timer to clean up and go outside, and three times, friends were not finished (Delaying going outside just doesn't happen in our room, so you get the idea of how involved the Catbirds were).

A Bouncy House was added to the cityscape. The roof was a problem, so friends were called in to consult. We had to get more blocks from out in the Commons. There were several meetings held between various builders before a solution was found.

Still, the city grew.

Rocket ships began to fly around. Animals moved in. Animals were flying in rocket ships!

Friends slept in the castle/bed area.

Decorations were added to the Bouncy House.

The city reached all the way over to New York.

After an amazing period of cooperative and dramatic play, friends were finally ready to go outside.

There was art to do outdoors, as well as cooking.

There was climbing and chasing and bug catching and pond filling to do.

There was a family meeting under the climber. Today was a day of the Catbirds at their best - working together, working things out and really enjoying the tight-knit community they have become.
