Helper heroes

Today Mike, August's dad, came to our classroom and gave us two packages. He told us to water them and to wait a few days to find out what is all about. Catbirds will sure be surprised!

Catbirds were so happy to see Justin!  This time he brought a very interesting instrument from India called keyboard sitar. Justin let friends touch the keys from the instrument and listen to the sounds. Then we all sang together.

After outdoor play we welcomed Sandra to our classroom, Sandra is a helper who works in a food pantry. Sandra explained to us what people do at the food pantry as well as to who do they donate the food. Sandra also told us that people at the pantry classify food as green, yellow, and red. Green would be the healthiest of all.
Friends asked how could we help. (Catbirds sang "How we can help "song to Sandra). She asked us to collect food and to bring it over the pantry. She gave us examples of the food that they need the most.

A Long Lovely Day and Handwashing

We had some long and luxurious time to work on all kinds of projects this morning.

Our latest album cover.

We had a video about germs and why we wash our hands. The Catbirds had lots of ideas and questions. We are asking them to wash long enough to sing the alphabet song.  There was a good discussion about why we wash our tables and about the kind people who clean oour school in the evenings.

Then we had our second Show and Tell. The Catbirds are really enjoying this activity.

Then we headed out for some wonderfully warm outdoor time.

Choice Time.

We unloaded our rock tumbler to get ready for the final week of polishing.

Some friends wrote letters.
