Making Change

Our day began with friends doing their jobs and then settling into choice time. Some friends worked on hammer art, an activity that is both creative and helps develop fine motor strength and coordination.

Legos are currently the most popular activity amongst quite a few Catbirds and it is amazing to watch friends both create and teach one another.

We headed over to our third grade buddies' classroom for a shared meeting for worship. One of the third graders introduced the how and why of speaking during MFW. We lit a candle, took some deep breaths together and settled into silence.

When the silence was over, we greeted one another and sang together.

Then we went outside to play with our buddies.

Back inside, we opened some new choices - there were some very happy bouncers!

Friends also got some cutting practice in, as they cut out their pictures for their boxes.

We read the book, "December," and had a brief discussion about our project for the homeless.

We also introduced our "Change for Change" jar, and each friend got to put in some coins.

Then we headed outside for some fresh air before lunchtime.

Our lunch convener did a great job, and even added his own, welcomed twist at the end!
