Our New Robotics Friends and Our Building Book

Having heard that the Catbirds were interested in experimenting and learning about speed, the 8th Grade Robotics Club used some of their time before the robot competition season begins to build a ramp for us. On Monday, they came by to give it to us!

The Catbirds got to install the final pieces, with help from our new friends.

The 8th graders told us about their work in robotics and invited us to go and visit their lab in the new year.

Then we tested out our new ramp, guessing (making hypotheses) what would happen and which object would get to the bottom first.

The Catbirds are talented and creative builders. They are particularly interested in making amazing creations with magnatiles. So, we have decided to write a book to show our beautiful structures. Here are a few photos from our soon to be published book.

Halloween and Beyond (The Week of)

Tuesday

Wednesday

Franklin (the strings teacher) came to visit the Catbirds and brought his cello.
He played some songs for us.

Franklin let each Catbird "conduct" his play, using their arms to increase and decrease volume and speed.

Art class. Catbirds had the opportunity to bead.

This is a fun, creative task that enhances fine motor skills.

Ramps and speed.

Thursday

Music class.
